David Meagher

I am the editor of Gourmet Traveller magazine, Australia's preeminent food and lifestyle publication. 

 

I was the editor of The Australian newspaper's monthly luxury lifestyle magazine, WISH, for more than 15 years and, more recently, was the managing editor of The Local Project, a leading print and digital design publishing company. 

 

Before that I was a senior writer at The Australian Financial Review Magazine for seven years and the deputy editor of the AFR’s Life & Leisure section and Sophisticated Traveller magazine.

My freelance writing work covers a range of publications and subjects including design, architecture, fashion, luxury and travel. Recent features have appeared in Harper's Bazaar Australia, The Australian Financial Review, Ark Journal and Rampart News. 

 

​I'm also the author of three non-fiction books: It’s Not Etiquette: A Guide to Modern Manners (Random House, 2005); Fashion Speak: Interviews with the World’s Leading Designers (Random House, 2008); and The A to Z of Modern Manners (Penguin Random House 2015).
